About Me

My name is Emily. I have been tutoring students since October 2019.

My journey with literacy began when my daughter was diagnosed with dyslexia. I started learning anything and everything I could about dyslexia and literacy. I trained as a Dyslexia Advocate through the Dyslexia Training Institute. I started working for a local non-profit, teaching parents to advocate for their children with IEPs and educating our community about dyslexia.

Throughout my work with the non-profit, I noticed that our community needed more qualified tutors to help the students in our area reach their full potential. I started tutoring students using the Barton Reading and Spelling System.

After learning more about literacy instruction, I was introduced to the Speech-to-Print, also known as Structured Linguistic Phonics approach to teaching reading and spelling. I was intrigued by what I heard and soon trained in Reading Simplified and EBLI. After witnessing students' incredible growth in a short period while using EBLI, I was sold. I became EBLI certified in May of 2023.
